Module 3: The Tools
Think About It
Do you think your life ends at high school? No way! It's just beginning. But thinking about what that life will be like involves more than just thinking about your future. You've got to figure out how to get there. Well, that's what this module is all about. They say, "if you aim for nothing, you'll get it every time." If you're like most people, you'll definitely want more than nothing!
Challenge Yourself
For this module, you'll meet a teen that looks like he's got his act together, but he still has a lot of questions and concerns about his future. This is totally natural. But that doesn't mean either he or you need to feel stuck!. After looking at this scenario, you'll have the following Framing Questions to consider:
- Where will I learn what I need for work?
- Could I be my own boss and start my own business?

The documents and videos available in this module should help you think about the type of training or education you may need to pursue, finding a part-time job, building upon your current skills and interests and could you start your own business (and, do you WANT to)?. Remember to download the Useful Stuff listed to your left before continuing.
While looking through the resources, see if you can apply them to this module's Framing Questions. Along with the help of you teacher and classmates, keep the main point of this module in mind. Basically, how will you use training, education, interests and entrepreneurship to get you to where you want to be?
Go Further
Your teacher will have you complete some activities to expand your thinking about how to make it to your career goals. You might complete some of the following:
- Listen to how several people came to be entrepreneurs and identify how their attitude and response to failures helped them to succeed.
- Think about the type of employee you'd like to have if you were running a business. Write down the characteristics of the employee and create a job interview questionnaire based on those traits.
- Conduct a survey of adults who have gone to colloege or other school after college and find out what life in that school was like.
After completing the activities, you will have a much better idea as to how you might eventually achieve your career goals.
